Say hello to Hulu

New online video service from some networks hopes for Internet profiteering.

In a classic example of coming in late to the party, a conglomeration of big TV networks have launched Hulu. It's a video streaming service with an impressive amount of otherwise hard to find content on offer. All the content on the site has been put up by its copyright holder so, unlike Youtube, it will be there next time you go and try to watch it again. TV shows and movies make up the bulk of the offerings, but some sporting events have been uploaded. You are subjected to mandatory advertisements periodically during videos, but the ads are not very large and don't disrupt the video so it is really a small price to pay. As far as picture quality, something that normally suffers when streaming video online, Hulu is great. Many of the movie offerings are available in 480i, far better than Youtube can boast. The site is free to use but a login is required to view R rated content.

Some of the wonderful things Hulu has to offer:

The 2008 Orange Bowl (try and act surprised by the ending)

Firefly (the best thing Fox has cancelled since Family Guy)

Family Guy (the best thing Fox has cancelled since Futurama)

The Usual Suspects (Kaiser Soze!)

The Big Lebowski (the Dude abides...)

Dude, Where's my Car? (because you are smart enough, why not dumb down?)
