Halftime: Kansas 34, Texas A&M 34
March 15, 2008
By Rustin Dodd
It seems Texas A&M coach Mark Turgeon's plan was to slow down this game and turn it into a foul fest.
After the first half, It seems that plan is working.
Texas A&M senior forward Joseph Jones scored 11 first-half points and the Aggies are outrebounding the Jayhawks 22-12.
That's probably the stat of the game in the first half.
First Half Observations...
1. The refs are calling this thing tight... a little too tight.
Poor Texas A&M freshman DeAndre Jordan has three fouls in three minutes of action, and his third foul was a definite phantom whistle on a Sasha Kaun spin move.
2. Kansas can't buy a bunny (basket)..
The Jayhawks are shooting 11-of-26 on two-point shot attemps. Sasha Kaun, Darnell Jackson and Darrell Arthur are a combined 4-of-12 shooting. Kansas has only taken four three-pointers - making two of them. You don't want to get three-point happy... but who wouldn't be against some more penetration and three-pointers from Kansas? The percentages say keep chuckin'.
3. Speaking of Arthur...
What does Bill Self think about everytime Arthur picks up a foul in the first minute of the game?
Kansas is 20 minutes from a match-up with Texas and keeping its hopes for a No. 1 seed alive.
Let's see how they respond in the second half.
See you after the game...
