The Jayhawks are balancing business and the beach this New Year's Eve.

For everyone out there who thinks it would be super-cool to make the trip to the Orange Bowl as a part of the Kansas Jayhawk football squad:
The Jayhawks' curfew on New Year's Eve is 12 midnight. Meaning they have to be safely in their (plush) hotel by the time the ball drops on the eastern seaboard.
Even with the early curfew, being a KU footballer wouldn't be too shabby during bowl week. Sure, the practices are tough and conditions are muggy, but there isn't any ice on the beach and there aren't many clouds in the sky here in Miami.
Anyway...on to some actual analysis.
All season long, Kansas' detractors in the media have pointed to the team's soft schedule as a reason for its unheralded success. Looking back at some numbers, the naysayers might have some credence to their claims.
Here are the final rankings (by total yards allowed) of the 12 defenses Kansas faced in 2007 and the defense it will face Jan. 3:
Central Michigan: 108th
Southeastern Louisiana: 78th (among FCS teams)
Toledo: 101st
Florida International: 105th
Kansas State: 70th
Baylor: 109th
Colorado: 64th
Texas A/M: 84th
Nebraska: 112th
Oklahoma State: 103rd
Iowa State: 66th
Missouri: 59th
Virginia Tech: 5th
Considering these rankings are out of a possible 119 FBS teams (excepting Southeastern Louisiana, an FCS team), things look pretty bleak for the Jayhawk offense.
