"Yoooou!" Are not going to believe this one. Alright, so for those of you who don't follow the NBA, The Washington Wizards and the Cleveland Caviliers are facing off in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. After Washington got demolished by Lebron and the Cavs, Wizards player DeShawn Stevenson said Lebron was quote "overrated." Everyone has their opinon, but I personally believe you have to be considered a good player to be making comments like that. And even then, I wouldn't approve it. Why the need for trash talk?
Well, Lebron simply responded by saying responding to Stevenson would be like rapper Jay-Z responding to a diss from Soulja Boy. So now, Soulja Boy says he's got issue with Lebron and went to Game 3 of the series because he was invited by Stevenson.
I find this ridiculous. Soulja Boy Tell Em (That's his official name) has to know, he isn't a highly respected rapper. I mean, I give him credit-"Crank That" was one of the biggest songs in recent time and he delivetred a hit. But his new crap like "Yah Trick Yah!" or whatever it's called is just garbage. As my roommate said, he's a good rapper for when you have parties or are dancing. I don't think there is anyone actually sitting down and taking the time to listen to his whole album just for kicks? He can't possibly think his album stacks up against rap classics like "The Chronic," "Reasonable Doubt," "Illmatic," etc. I don't think LeBron was trying to discredit Soula Boy either. He's just making the case that Jay-Z, one of the greatest rappers ever, is not going to get bothered by being dissed by a rapper who has one hit song in his collection.
It is more bothering to me that DeShawn Stevenson even made comments about LeBron. He sounds bitter because Cleveland tends to dominate Washington (look at previous series) and beat them in Game 1. If these comments came from Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler, Gilbert Arenas, at least I could say he can talk because he's a solid NBA player.
And all the NBA commentators agree, Stevenson is a joke when it comes to LeBron. Trash talk doesn't win a series. How you play does. And I guarantee to Stevenson, LeBron would dominate you in basketball everytime. If he had a broken arm, I'd still put money on LeBron. Get over yourself Stevenson, seriously.
And Soulja Boy Tell Em' please don't try to blow this LeBron thing out of the water. If you want credibility, make some great music.
By now, I'm sure you have heard about it on television or through a friend on campus, in your dorm, etc. Kansas Jayhawks' mens' basketball team players Brandon Rush and Darrell Arthur have announced they will be eligible for this year's NBA draft.
I for one am happy. Yes, I know. The Jayhawks lose a lot in Rush and Arthur, specifically scoring as both were two of the team's leading scorers. But I am confident Coach Bill Self is bringing in some new guys to uphold Kansas basketball tradition. I've been hearing a lot of people say ...
Looks like his 'Big Pimpin' days might be over. People.com and numerous media outlets are reporting rapper Jay-Z and singer Beyonce Knowles got hitched over the weekend.
The two got a marriage licence in New York on April 1st, making most think it was a hoax. However, the two reportedly married on Friday April 4th in New York City in front of close friends and family.
I for one am happy to see a relationship in the entertainment world last for a change. I'm tired of the Britney Spears/Kevin Federline story and all the others. ...
It's been a little bit since my last entry. I've had many conversations with my roommate about who is currently the best actor. I've always considered Denzel Washington my favorite actor since I can remember and I got to be honest, I believe he is the best actor in Tinsel Town right now.
Film by film, just great. "Man On Fire," "American Gangster," "John Q," "Training Day," "Inside Man," and "Deja Vu" are some of his more recent films, which are all fantastic. Now some of the other names we brought up were Mark Wahlberg and Nicolas Cage. ...
For the past few years, the music industry has struggled with sales due to illegal downloading. This is why I love the idea of the mixtape. For those of you who don't know, mixtapes are promotional cds used to promote artists and their upcoming work. They are supposed to be for free, but you can buy them on the streets of New York.
Rappers have been using mixtapes to their advantage for years. Some say rapper 50 Cent is the mixtape king, as he put out mixtape after mixtape to earn credibility which resulted in rapper Eminem ...
Ok, so it's no secret steroids have been a problem in baseball. I don't support their usage in anyway, but I can see why athletes might consider using them. They can help athletes achieve greatness. After all, they got Barry Bonds the chance to break the homerun record.
But I absolutely don't understand how they help billiards players? It was announced Monday that German billiards player Axel Buescher tested positive for EPO, a blood booster common for helping endurance sports. They have been the source of problems in cycling. But what the hell did this guy have ...
On Tuesday, March 11th, rock hip-hop group N.E.R.D performed at Liberty Hall. Yes, I know this blog comes two days after the show, but I thought we were going to be able to post my pictures from the show-but sadly it won't allow us to. Anyways, N.E.R.D rocked Liberty Hall on Tuesday.
They got on stage at around 9:30 p.m. and stayed on until about 11 p.m. They were backed by an awesome band and went through some of their biggest hits, such as "Rock Star," "Lapdance," "Bobby James" and "She Wants To Move." Of course they ...
So I think it's no secret about the problems Lindsay Lohan has had the past few years. As much of a "partier" she is, I think she has, or I guess 'had' talent that she wasted away with her personal life. Just when the media kind of stops talking about Lindsay, news comes out from E! that they are giving Lindsay Lohan's little sister, Ally Lohan, her own reality show. SERIOUSLY? Yes, I am dead serious.
I really don't get this one. Let's encourage a pretty odd family to exploit another one of their children. For those ...
Today, after many phone calls and playing phone tag with a half a dozen people, I was granted the opportunity to interview Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, otherwise known as production duo The Neptunes. If you aren't familar with them, they have produced records for a lot of popular artists today, such as Jay-Z, Britney Spears, The Hives, Gwen Stefani, Kelis, Slim Thug, Snoop Dogg, etc. Pharrell typically sings on hooks and has had a pretty steady feature and solo career.
I was only given 15 minutes to interview them and I really had no idea what ...
Earlier today, I saw the new Will Ferrell comedy "Semi-Pro" at the request of a good friend who wanted me to see it with him. I wanted to see it, but I could have waited until it was on rental. I don't know, I wasn't a fan of last year's "Blades of Glory" and I think Ferrell has pushed the sports-comedy genre as far as it can go.
For those like me who were not impressed with 'Blades of Glory,' fear not. 'Semi-Pro' is actually worth checking out. Now by no means is it a great film, ...
