Letter to the Editor Policy

Please send letters to opinion@kansan.com with “letter to the editor” in the subject line.

Letters should be 300 words or fewer. Please include your name, hometown and grade or position at the University of Kansas. Letters to the editor are generally accepted only from students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community. Anonymous letters are not accepted.

Once submitted, letters become property of The University Daily Kansan and are subject to editing for length, clarity, content, grammar and occasionally factual accuracy.

A letter will not be published if it is libelous, attacks a reporter, columnist or other writer. Letters that are written to promote a product or service will not be published.

Letters to the editor are published on available space and at the editor's discretion. The editor reserves the right to withhold publication of a letter for any reason. The editor also reserves the right to add an editor's comment at the end of the letter if the editor believes portions of the published letter may be inaccurate or misleading.
