The Kansas soccer team won its spring opener on Saturday. The Jayhawks defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 2-0, at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
Freshman defender Afton Sauer scored the Jayhawks’ first goal when she received a deflection from junior forward Caroline Smith from the far side of the goal and scored.
Junior forward Kimberly Karfonta scored in the 84th minute off a loose ball.
The Jayhawks’ next spring game will be against the Purdue Boilermakers on April 23 in Indianapolis.
