The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a body in a ditch near 1125 E. County Road and Farmer’s Turnpike, said Lt. Kathy Tate, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

A passersby discovered the body shortly before 5 p.m. Monday. Police officers arrived at the scene and confirmed that it was a body, Tate said.

The body, a white male, was removed from the scene later that night, Tate said.

Erik Mitchell, Douglas County Coroner, conducted an autopsy on the body sometime yesterday. Cause of death, age and identity will be known after the autopsy is completed, Tate said.
