The Kansas women’s basketball team lost its second game in a row Tuesday night, falling to Colorado 74-65 in Boulder.
After a perfect 12-0 start the Jayhawks have lost consecutive road games to Big 12 opponents Nebraska and Colorado.
The game remained close until five minutes into the second half, when Colorado scored 13 unanswered points, including five straight field goals.
Kansas’ performance dropped off in the second half, and after the game coach Bonnie Henrickson said she wanted to see senior forward Crystal Kemp become more aggressive in demanding the ball.
Colorado played a more physical game, contributing to the team’s 28 free-throw attempts. Kansas had just two.
For the Jayhawks the scoring came from the outside. Senior guards Kaylee Brown and Erica Hallman led the team with 19 and 17 points, respectively.
Colorado improved its record to 6-9 and picked up its first Big 12 win.
“KU has some good wins under their belt, so hopefully this proves to some people that we can play with the teams in the Big 12,” guard Whitney Law said.
The Jayhawks will have a chance to pick up a win in front of a home crowd when Texas A&M; visits Allen Fieldhouse this Sunday at 1 p.m.
