Police have closed the death investigation after determining that Emmons died from a cut caused by glass at Yello Sub.
Police said Justin A. Emmons died from a "severe laceration to his right leg" and said the death was an accident.
Around 6 a.m. Monday, police responded to a call that Emmons' body had been found behind the local sandwich shop.
Emmons was a general manager at Big 12 Burrito and former Yello Sub employee.

Yello Sub closing
Damage was done to the former campus location of Yello Sub, a popular sandwich shop, after its closing over the weekend.
Big 12 Burrito is located behind The Crossing.
Emmons had been working at Marisco’s over the summer because Big 12 Burrito was closed and would not open until August 1.
Emmons’ father, Joseph, said he could not speak about what happened on Sunday evening. Emmons’ father said all he knows is what little information the police have told him.
The first thing Joseph said when asked about his son was that Justin loved cooking.
Joseph said his son’s love for cooking was apparent by Justin’s different jobs at local restaurants, like Big 12 Burrito and Marisco’s. He said his son even spent some time in Orcas, Wash., running his own coffee shop, called Café Jama.
Joseph said the strain on his son’s small business caused Justin to sell, bringing Justin back to Lawrence.
As a Lawrence native, Justin spent some time at the University. Justin’s father said during his time at the University, Justin was on the Marching Jayhawk’s drumline.
While Justin worked for Marisco’s, his father said he catered for some of the fraternities on campus.
Emmons’ body was found behind the Yello Sub, 624 W. 12th Street.
The Yello Sub shut down its operations on Saturday after the building was sold to owners who are planning a hotel and retail development site at 12th and Oread streets.
Monday morning, there was damage and graffiti on the building, including broken windows and plastic chairs thrown into a bush on the property.
Lawrence police have closed the investigation.
