Preston Land hit a bomb in the ninth inning that nearly cleared the outfield wall, instead it stayed inside the park. This hit only scored two, and the Jayhawks were unable to pull out a victory.

Erik Morrison and Ryne Price hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the ninth to come from behind and defeat their border rivals. Closer Paul Smyth was able to hold the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth to clinch the victory.

Donation boosts study abroad program

A donation from Larry and Donna Horner will raise the maximum scholarship for studying abroad by $500. The donation will increase the amount of money awarded annually for scholarships from $60,000 to $90,000.

Taking the Stage
Singer-songwriter Tanner Walle will release his second CD and make a contribution to the United Way this weekend.
Tanner Walle, the lead singer for Lawrence cover band The Wobbly H, will release his second solo album on March 2. Proceeds from ticket sales to the CD release party will be contributed to the United Way as a part of Walle’s support for the charity and Rock Chalk Revue.
