Despite winning an early-season match-up against Iowa State, Kansas failed to keep the Cyclones down. The Cyclones defeated the Jayhawks 8-0 and 3-2 respectively.

The owner of two local bars filed a lawsuit against Lawrence in 2005 for its smoking ban. Columnist Kaitlyn Syring argues that the ban — which is now being considered by the Kansas Supreme Court — should not be reversed because smoking is detrimental to patrons' health.

Jason Allen Rose said that he lit a piece of paper containing the phone number of a man named "Stan" on fire in the Boardwalk Apartment complex on the night of the deadly fire two years ago. Rose is accused of starting the fire. His attorney says he was coerced during questioning.

Despite skepticism from professors, a class of 16 optimistic engineering students are anticipating their Lander's mission next Saturday.
