1. Newly-released documents show that the FBI intensively spied on Martin Luther King’s widow Coretta Scott King for years after the death of the civil rights leader.
Ignoring any political concerns, FBI head J. Edgar Hoover was merely trying to find out where she was getting those fabulous dresses.
2. Senator Larry Craig, R-Idaho, resigns after revelations surface of his arrest and guilty plea for soliciting sex in an airport bathroom.
What, you know of a better place to have anonymous homosexual sex in an airport? (If you do know of such a place, please email Sen. Larry Craig at http://craig.senate.gov/webform.cfm)
3. Actor Owen Wilson allegedly attempts to commit suicide by taking drugs and slashing his wrists.
Wilson was reportedly preparing for his role in the upcoming sequel “Wedding Slashers.”
4. A Dutch study reveals that smokers are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia than people who don’t smoke.
And here I thought it was the excessive drinking that was making me crazy.
5. Highly-paid international soccer star David Beckham suffers a knee injury that will sideline him for at least 6 weeks.
$25 million well spent. This has to be depressing news to the 10 or so Americans that follow soccer.
