Aired April 29, 2008 on 90.7 KJHK FM. On this episode:
Under the rainbow: This week, we take a look at a unique history project being worked on here at the University of Kansas. The project is called "Under the Rainbow: Oral Histories of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Queer People in Kansas." Leading the project is Tami Albin, an outreach librarian at KU, who just received a two year grant for the project. KJHK's Sachiko Miyakawa learns what Tami hopes to achieve with the new project.
Really?!: University of Kansas students enrolled in the Musical Performance for the Actor class will perform in "Really!?" That's the name of the show (Really?!). The production will benefit the Douglas County AIDS Project, or DCAP, Sunday May 4. KJHK reporter Haley Shanks explains more about the show and how its participants hope it will help DCAP.
No country for KU: Last weekend at KU, the Film and Theater Department held their annual "Alums Come Home." The event features a series of lectures and workshops given by KU graduates who now have careers in the Film and Theater industries. One such graduate was Gregory Hill, who talked about his work as the Graphic Designer for the film "No Country for Old Men." Our resident movie critics Abby Olcese and Elliot Kort talked with Hill about his work.
Common: Lyrical Hip Hop artist Common performed this past week at the Lied Center as a part of Student Union Activies Spring events. KJHK contributors Derek Zarda and Danny Spence were able to meet up with the hip-hop juggernaut after his performance.
