A KU On Wheels bus collided with an SUV this morning on Naismith Drive near 21st Street. The SUV, driven by a 17-year-old female Lawrence resident, rolled through a stop sign at the intersection while eastbound, and spun into a Laidlaw school bus after being struck by the KU bus. No one involved in the incident was injured or taken to a hospital.
The Lawrence Police Department received a call about the incident at 7:42 a.m. Both the SUV and KU bus were towed from the scene, and the northbound portion of Naismith Drive was reopened to traffic from 23rd Street at around 9:15 a.m. The Laidlaw bus received only minor damage and drove from the scene under its own power.
