On a fourth and goal from the three yard line, Todd Reesing evaded a pair of defenders and lobbed a pass to the back left corner of the end zone. The pass looked as if it'd sail harmlessly over everybody and land on the track, but Dezmon Briscoe had other ideas.
Briscoe leaped into the air and clutched the floater, just barely keeping his foot inbounds as he came back to earth. It was his third touchdown reception of the evening.
The Jayhawks offense looked like a train leaving the station early at Memorial Stadium.
Its wheels slowly churning, struggling to get it moving. However, once it starts rolling there's no stopping it.
Todd Reesing has picked apart the FIU defense for 197 yards and three touchdowns while leading Kansas to a 40-10 lead.
The story lines leading up to this game have all made an impact in the first half. Running back Jocques Crawford, kicker Alonso Rojas and punt returner Daymond Patterson have each keyed Kansas to its 30-7 lead.
Crawford rushed seven yards for the first touchdown of his career and Kansas' first score of the season.
True freshman Patterson hurdled a FIU defender Ashlyn Parker en route to a 75-yard punt return.
Alonso Rojas booted a 47-yard field goal to put Kansas up 17-0.
Golden Panther freshman running back T.Y. Hilton has the only positive play for his team thus far, when he took a Rojas punt 74 yards for a touchdown.
The Jayhawk defense is suffocating the Golden Panther offense, as quarterback Paul McCall and co. have only amassed 3 yards.
Todd Reesing threw a 3-yard pass to Dezmon Briscoe to put Kansas on top 14-0. Reesing struggled to evade pressure early in the game, but now he's cruising up and down the field.
The drive started with a Jake Laptad sack on the Golden Panthers' failed fourth down attempt. Reesing found his grove, hitting Kerry Meier, Dezmon Briscoe and Jake Sharp during the drive. Sharp's 18-yard reception was the longest play of the drive.
Kansas is struggling to find its grove as the FIU defense is getting pressure and caused an early fumble.
Jocques Crawford burst up the middle for 15 yards on his first carry as a Jayhawk, but two plays later wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe was hit hard by linebacker Scott Bryant and fumbled the ball. FIU linebacker Michael Dominguez recovered the ball.
The Golden Panther defense has sputtered with the ball, but their defense has forced Reesing to move the pocket and the junior has struggled to find his receivers.
