Chancellor Robert Hemenway announces he will step down from his position on June 30 at a press conference in Strong Hall Monday morning. Hemenway, the University's 16th chancellor, has held the position since 1995. Hemmnway said that he wished to dedicate more time to writing and teaching.

Chancellor Robert E. Hemenway, University Chancellor since 1995, announced today that he will step down from the post on June 30.

Hemenway, the University's 16th chancellor, has presided over record student growth and the University's reputation as a burgeoning research institution.

Hemenway said he plans to spend more time teaching and writing once he vacates the office.

Hemenway, who graduated high school in 1959, received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a doctorate from Kent State University in 1966.
