A 66-year-old Lawrence man was killed Saturday night when his moped collided with a city bus. Melvin Elliot was pulling out of a private driveway on 6th and Missouri Streets. When his vehicle was struck. No citations have been issued at this time.
38-year-old Daryl Pickens was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence when his Ford Taurus stuck a parked vehicle. The vehicle that he struck rolled into a mobile home, lodging it under the southwest corner of the home. Pickens then struck another mobile home causing it to move off its concrete foundation. Both homes suffered major damage.
Police reported to a fight that broke out at the Cadillac Ranch on Saturday. Apparently two to three groups of people began to fight. Only one person was treated for a laceration to his head when he was reportedly hit with a metal object. The police are continuing to investigate the situation.
