CONTRIBUTED
Fire marshal Rich Barr stands with his arm around the occupant of the apartment that caught fire Wednesday night. The occupant of the apartment was not home when the fire started.
At 10:48 p.m. Wednesday night the Lawrence Fire Department received a call about an apartment on fire at 1714 Vermont. The first LFD truck arrived at the apartment at 10:54 p.m. and had the fire under control by 11:19 p.m.
"There was only one apartment effected by the fire, we believe at this point, but we don't have a cause yet," Rich Barr, Lawrence Fire Marshall, said
CONTRIBUTED
A Lawrence Fire Department fire truck parks outside of 1714 Vermont. The LFD received a call about the fire at 10:48 p.m. and arrived at the apartment six minutes later.
Barr said he believed that out of the four apartments in the building, two apartments were occupied and there was one person living in the effected apartment. The occupant of the effected apartment was not home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.
Barr said thermal imaging equipment appeared to show that the fire had not spread to any of the other apartments or any of the surrounding buildings.
The occupant of the effected apartment arrived at midnight, but could not be reached for comment.
"He was pretty upset," Barr said.

Dear Peter-- Read up on the proper use of effected and affected. You misused the word four times in the article.
