LIVE UPDATE: Kansas wins 85-45

Sherron Collins now has 25 points and the Jayhawks continue to pile it on. Its now 74-31 with just under eight minutes left.

Cole Aldrich has 12 points after having only 4 in the first half because of foul trouble for the second straight game. Tyrel Reed has nine points in just 13 minutes.

Florida Gulf Coast can't watch the seconds tick off of the clock any sooner.

Halftime update

Sherron Collins has a game high 18 points and the Jayhawks lead Florida Gulf Coast 45-13 at the half. After Florida Gulf Coast cut the lead to eight at 15-7 early in the half, the Jayhawks exploded for a 30-6 run to end the half.

Collins is six of eight from the field and has hit three of his four tries from behind the three point line. No other Jayhawk has more than five points but eight other Jayhawks have reached the scoring column.

Florida Gulf Coast missed 12 straight shots to start the game and are just three of 25 for the game, a percentage of just 12 percent. They also have 15 turnovers compared to the Jayhawks six.

5:43 update, Kansas leads

The Jayhawks got off to a 13-2 lead thanks to 12 consecutive misses by Florida Gulf Coast to start the game. But Florida Gulf Coast make it some what of a game for a few minutes when they cut the lead to 15-7 on a basket by Reed Baker. But the Jayhawks took over from there, going on a 17-2 run to take a commanding 32-9 lead with 5:43 left in the first.

Sherron Collins has 12 points on four of five shooting. The Jayhawks are shooting 46 percent from the field while Florida Gulf Coast has hit just 3 of 20 shots for a 15 percent clip.

Pregame update

The Kansas Jayhawks will look to move to 2-0 on the season when they host Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday night at Allen Fieldhouse. The National Championship banner will be raised in the middle of the four other championship banners at 7:45pm live on ESPN. The game will be televised on ESPNU at 8pm.

Kansas shouldn't have any trouble in this one, as the Eagles return only two players from last years 10-21 squad. Its also their season opener, so it figures to be a long night and a long trip back to Naples, Florida, for Florida Gulf Coast.
