A federal tobacco tax, which took effect today, has some local businesses worried. The bulk tobacco price more than doubled, the largest increase in 20 years. As a result, businesses are raising prices on cigarettes, which has worried store owners about staying afloat.
Though all student smokers will be affected, others see it as a step toward quitting smoking.
