Local businesses are pitching in to help local charities survive in tough economical times. The Lawrence GiveBack program allows local businesses to donate a portion of their sales to local charities. One local grocer and 17 restaurants have signed up and offered to give up to 5 percent of purchases made to their businesses back to local charities.
Shoppers get GiveBack cards for free and register them online with the charity of their choice. Shoppers present their card at the time of their purchase at a supporting business and a portion of their sale will be donated to their charity. The GiveBack program is offering a much needed boost to charities which may have a hard time securing grants with tightening budgets.
