The University Daily Kansan Editor Brenna Hawley will continue to lead The University Daily Kansan in the fall, as she enters her eighth semester working for the Kansan. Jesse Trimble will serve as Kansan editor for the summer. Todd Brown will be the new business manager for the summer and Lauren Bloodgood will take the position in the fall. News Advisor to The Kansan Malcolm Gibson said Hawley did an excellent job putting out the daily paper while forging a new direction and integrating various platforms into the newspaper.
“I think Brenna has provided strong management in a difficult environment,” Gibson said, “I think she will do even more for The Kansan next year.”
Hawley has worked as a designer, a design chief, a Jayplay designer, a Student Senate and activism reporter, a campus editor and a copy editor. Gibson said Hawley had done all her jobs well, and described her as a team player and loyal to The Kansan.
“She’s willing to do it for the team and that’s what makes her a good editor,” Gibson said.
Jon Schlitt, sales and marketing adviser for the Kansan, said the new business managers were both excellent choices for The Kansan.
“I think the board did a fantastic job choosing these two,” Schlitt said. “These two truly represent the best of what the University Daily Kansan is all about.”
Schlitt said Hawley had worked very hard to keep a good relationship with both the business and editorial sides of the newspaper. He said he was glad that relationship would continue next year.

Kansan Editor Brenna Hawley to keep position
My 2¢ is, that I think there could certainly be larger coverage of student politics in the future. I am not advocating the creation of what we see in the mainstream media; however, student senate gossip and rumors shouldn't be that, there should be regular media coverage of this. Like the fact that Adam McGonigle recently changed the password to the Student Senate copier and the senate committee hearings were almost completely ineffective. Also, this greatly hurts the access to resources for the student groups in the SILC.
Kansan Editor Brenna Hawley to keep position
The Kansan covers the hell out of Student Senate. Changing the password is news for the Student Senate news letter, not the UDK.
Congratulations Brenna.
Kansan Editor Brenna Hawley to keep position
They don't cover the "hell" out of Student Senate, have you seen the student senate page on the UDK website, there's an article every four days.
