Junior left-hander Shaeffer Hall pitched a complete game and freshman first baseman Zach Elgie hit the first home run of his career as Kansas downed No. 17 Oklahoma State 8-1.
Hall only surrendered five hits and one earned run while striking out a career high nine. It was his second complete game of the season, the first being the no-hitter Hall threw against Memphis in February.
Elgie is continuing the hot streak he started against Iowa, as he crushed a first pitch fastball over the left field wall. He now has three-consecutive multi-hit games as he finished 2-for-4 and two RBI.
The defense made several outstanding plays in the field, and until senior first baseman Preston Land misplayed a ball in the ninth, the Jayhawks had no errors.
“We executed our short game offense and got some two out RBIs, it was a very, very complete performance,” coach Ritch Price said.
