On Tuesday, Kansas needed 16 hits to score five runs against Iowa. Saturday afternoon the Jayhawks made the most of their at-bats, pummeling No. 17 Oklahoma State 13-6.

Kansas used nine hits to rough up the Cowboys, eight of of them coming from the first five hitters. Senior catcher Buck Afenir did the most damage, going 3-for-4 with four RBis and his fourth home run of the season.

Sophomore right-hander T.J. Walz picked up his fourth victory of the season, pitching six and two-thirds innings and striking out a career high 10. It was the first time any Jayhawk had struck out 10 batters in a game.

"Everything felt good, except my change up didn't feel very good early on," Walz said. "It took me a little bit to get in a groove but I know the fielders don't like it very much when I strike people out."

Kansas now sits at 6-5 in the Big 12 with a chance for the sweep tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at Hoglund Ballpark.

"I was really pleased with T.J. today," coach Ritch Price said. "In order to beat a team that's got the offensive numbers they've got, you've got to pitch as good as they do, and I couldn't be more pleased."
