Junior distance runner Lauren Bonds qualified for the next month's regional championships by winning the women's 1,500 meters at the Kansas Relays on Saturday. Bonds won the title with a career-best time of 4:27.36.

Saturday brought in professional and Olympic athletes to compete in the Invitational events.
Unfortunately, those wanting to see Bershawn “Batman” Jackson were left disappointed as he withdrew from the 400 meter hurdle event at the last minute with a hamstring problem.

Highlights from the third day of the Kansas Relays at Memorial Stadium.
Jackson said he had hamstring issues early this season and felt it bothering him while he was doing warms-ups to prepare for today's event.
Jackson said he was disappointed he couldn’t compete at the Relays but didn’t want to risk ending his season early with an injury.

Kansas Relays: Day 2
University athletes compete in a bevy of events, including the completion of the men's decathlon, the 5k race, the hammer throw and others.
However, history was made when American mile recorder holder Alan Webb won the mile event in under 4 minutes, a time of 3:58. Webb is behind Jim Ryun in the fastest mile all time at the Kansas Relays.
Muna Lee, Kansas City, Mo., competed in the 200 meter dash invitational along with KU senior sprinter Nickesha Anderson and took take first, running a time of 23.05 seconds. Anderson came in a close second, running 23.45.
FRIDAY
Friday at the Kansas Relays were the preliminary rounds in which Kansas made the finals of sprints events including the women’s 4X100 relay and both the men and women’s 4x400 relay events.
In the finals of the Steeplechase, senior Patrick McGowan had a strong performance despite a fall midway through the race, taking second place with a time of 9:29.07 seconds. Freshman Rebeka Stowe took third in the women’s event with time of 11:25.25.
In the men’s pole vault, junior Jordan Scott, who is redshirting this outdoor season, took first place as an unattached competitor, jumping 5.50 meters. Junior Kirk Cooper took second, jumping 5.05 meters.
In the Javelin competition, KU track alum and Olympian Scott Russell took first, throwing 75.08 meters. Russell was just one of the professional athletes in attendance that competed in the Beijing Olympics.
