A Kansas starter yet again struggled again, this time sophomore right-hander T.J. Walz, as Texas Tech (18-23, 9-8) defeated No. 24 Kansas (24-14, 7-7) 7-5 on Saturday night.
Walz lasted three and one-third Innings while giving up six runs, four of them earned. It was his shortest start of the season, and the Jayhawk’s top two pitchers have struggled in back-to-back games, with junior left-hander Shaeffer Hall struggling on Friday.
Junior right-hander Brett Bollman kept the Jayhawks close, pitching four and two-thirds in relief while allowing only one run. The Kansas bats were quieted however, shutout through the first five innings before scoring all of it’s runs from the six inning and on.
