A student was sexually assaulted in the 600 block of New Hampshire and others were robbed in outside of McCollum Hall.
Campus police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Sunday afternoon behind McCollum Hall.
Two students were among the three victims of the robbery at about 3 p.m., Sgt. Bob Williams said. The suspects took cash from the victims but did not physically harm them, Williams said.
Williams said there were two suspects who had handguns at the scene, but that officers were investigating the possibility of a third suspect in the suspects’ car.
The suspects fled the scene after robbing the victims.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the KU Public Safety Office at (785) 865-5900.

I always thought of student housing as relatively safe. Sad to hear this.

United Students promised to make security a priority last year, but I guess they got sidetracked stealing classified information. At any rate, it's comforting to know that:
"There’s definitely a good chance that this promise will at least get addressed seriously before the end of the school year."

I think United Students forgot to say that they were going to impliment armed guards at all dorms and metal detectors.
johnmurr, although I don't agree with United Students, i think you are dumb. Get realistic. What's your solution to help this, rather than criticize. Chip on the shoulder? How about we be progressive on these boards and work on solutions instead of being little rocking chair quarterbacks.

Hawkchalk: Just because we can't guarantee complete safety doesn't mean we shouldn't try and do what we can.
I agree with United's plan to increase campus safety. Problem is, United hasn't followed through with their plan.

Again, John, what is your proposed solution?

Again, I don't have a "solution." I do think we can mitigate the problem, by doing exactly what United says we ought to do. Problem is: United won't do it!
