The Kansas Board of Regents on Thursday unveiled a list of 18 people tasked with selecting a new University of Kansas chancellor by Fall 2009.
The committee's chair is Drue Jennings, a former chairman and CEO of the Kansas City Power and Light Company. His KU-related appointments include the KU Medical Center Advancement Board and KU Endowment Trustees.
Student Body President Adam McGonigle is the students' representative on the committee.
The committee has three faculty members. They are: Jeff Aube, professor of medicinal chemistry; Victor Bailey, director of the Hall Center for the Humanities and the Charles W. Battey Distinguished Professor of Modern British History; and professor Pam Shaw of the School of Medicine's department of pediatrics.
The three staff member representatives are Karen Miller, dean of the schools of Nursing and Allied Health and senior vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the University of Kansas Medical Center; Paul K. Farran, president of the unclassified senate and director of student success technology services; and Dennis Constance, president of the university support staff senate.
Four endowment representatives are on the search committee. Jay Howard is a member of the Alumni Association's executive committee. Linda Ellis Sims is a KU Endowment trustee and chairwoman of the School of Engineering Advisory Board. Tom Vaughn is on the Alumni Association Black Alumni Chapter Board and has also been a member of the KU Law School Board of Governors. Kurt D. Watson is the president and chief operating officer of IMA Financial Group, Inc. He is also a KU Endowment trustee and chairman of the KU Endowment Board and Executive Committee.
Representing Lawrence and the surrounding community are Dick Bond, a former Kansas Senate president and Regents chairman; Gene Meyer, president and CEO of Lawrence Memorial Hospital; Erick E. Nordling, a partner with Kramer, Nordling and Nordling law firm and president of the southwest Kansas chapter of the KU Alumni Association; and Deanell Reece Tacha, a judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Board of Regents members Jill Docking, vice chair of the Board of Regents, and Reginald Robinson, president and CEO of the Board of Regents, round out the committee.
