Junior guard Sade Morris left Saturday’s 57-49 loss against Texas Tech with an head injury after getting fouled and hitting the floor hard on a layup attempt. The injury came with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half. Morris needed help walking off the floor and headed into the locker room. She did not return to play or sit on the bench.
Coach Bonnie Henrickson thinks she might have caught an elbow on her drive, but said the doctor’s were still trying to conclude what the exact injury was.
Junior guard Kelly Kohn came in and hit both free throws off of Morris’ foul, and took most of Morris’ minutes for the rest of the game. The injury left the team with just one perimeter sub.

Kansas Women's Basketball vs. Texas Tech
Texas Tech's Lady Raiders fefeat the Jayhawks 57-49, leading by a 2-1 margin throughout most of the game.
“We were dealt a critical blow when Sade went down,” junior Danielle McCray said.
The injury forced Henrickson to play some lineups that haven’t played together much in Big 12 play. For instance, both senior guard Ivana Catic and junior guard LaChelda Jacobs, who split the point guard role, played at the same time for a stretch in the second half.
Without the slashing guard, Kansas’ offense was stagnant at best. In the first half, Kansas shot just 20 percent from the field and 14 percent from behind the three-point line. The Jayhawks' 17-point output in the first half marked their lowest of the season.
“It’s hard to find a rhythm when there’s more than one person that’s struggling offensively,” Kohn said.
Kohn said Morris was an irreplaceable part of the offense.
“She’s our second offensive go-to threat,” Kohn said. “I don’t think we can’t win without Sade, but our offense was shaking a little bit.”
Morris had been hot in Big 12 play, averaging 16 points a game. She led the team in scoring against both Kansas State and Missouri. She had four points in 10 minutes before leaving with the injury. On a night where saying the Kansas offense struggled was an understatement, Morris was the fourth-leading scorer despite playing less than a quarter of the game.
Kohn said that if the team wanted to be consistent, it needed to be able to score when one or more of its main offensive threats was having an off-night.
There is no timetable on Morris’ return, but Henrickson said more information would be available Sunday.
