Non-student season ticket holders who want to sit in the lower sections of Allen Fieldhouse for men’s basketball games for the upcoming season will have to pay more for season tickets.
The Athletics Department introduced new ticket pricing based on three seating tiers.
The tier of seats closest to the floor and select sections above those tiers now cost $1,255 for the full 2009-2010 men’s basketball season. The ‘crow’s nest,’ or the seats on three of the four far upper corners of Allen Fieldhouse now cost $855. All other non-student seats cost $1,155. Before, season tickets all cost $1,155.
This is also a change to the priority points system. In the priority points system, season ticket holders who donate more to the Williams Fund, the private donor fund that holds money for athletic scholarships, get a chance to choose better seats at Allen Fieldhouse. Lower tier seats will now carry a higher price.
Jim Marchiony, associate athletics director, said it was a break for donors with fewer points given the current recession.
“The people that will suffer the most in this recession are the people who sit up, the people with fewer priority points than the folks down below,” Marchiony said.
The student section at Allen Fieldhouse will remain the same, and the All-Sports combo will remain at $150, Marchiony said.
