Taylor and Collins sweep Big 12 awards

Junior guard Sherron Collins and freshman guard Tyshawn Taylor swept the weekly Big 12 awards, the Big 12 announced Monday.

Collins was named Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after averaging 25.5 points in Kanas' victories over No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 11 Missouri. Collins hit 50 percent from the field and 64 percent behind the three-point line.

Taylor was named Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season. Last week Taylor scored a career-high 26 points against Oklahoma and tossed in 15 against Missouri. The freshman also dished out nine assists in those two games.
