The Jayhawks face Missouri State today, playing the first of two make-up games at Arrocha Ballpark in Lawrence. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Kansas had been scheduled to play a doubleheader against the Bears in Springfield, Mo., on March 12, but the games were postponed because of freezing temperatures and snowy conditions. The date, time and location for the second game have yet to be determined.
Kansas goes into today’s contest 10-16, suffering a pair of losses to Oklahoma State over the weekend. The Jayhawks are eager to add two more victories to the win column against Missouri State.

“That’s the great thing about the game of softball,” head coach Tracy Bunge said about the upcoming game, “It’s not like football where you play once a week, we’ve got a chance to come back right away and get a win.”
Kansas squares off against a Missouri State squad that has a 12-12 overall record and is 3-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference, good enough for fifth place. The Bears are a tight team defensively and hold a team batting average of .257, led by senior infielder Jessie Smith’r .427 average.
Missouri State comes into today’s matchup against the Jayhawks having swept Indiana State in a two game series. Before that, the Bears suffered a 2-1 loss against Oklahoma State.
Up next for Kansas softball is a doubleheader Wednesday against another Missouri Valley Conference team, the Creighton Blue Jays. Two more Jayhawk victories would give coach Bunge 400 wins in her career as the skipper for Kansas softball.
