Sophomore right-hander T.J. Walz didn't have his best stuff on Saturday, but it was enough to keep No. 9 Oklahoma at bay as Kansas prevailed 9-5 Saturday afternoon.
Walz pitched six innings and gave up only two runs but walked four while giving up five hits. Walz was able to work out of plenty of jams while senior catcher Buck Afenir provided the offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Regardless of the outcome of Sunday's game, Kansas has won it's first Big 12 series on the road this season. The bullpen wasn't as untouchable as it was on Friday, but it was good enough. Senior closer Paul Smyth picked up his second-consecutive save, his eighth of the season.
