I think they're delusional if they think that's going to prevent drinking in the dorms. Last year when I lived on Daisy Hill, nobody had much of a concern about getting caught, it rarely happened. The only thing I think this would affect would be the students being more cautious and quiet about their drinking. Let's push the problem further into the closet...

The two alcohol-related deaths this Semester were of course a tragedy and preventable. But they did not occur in the Dorms. These new policies would not have prevented either one of those deaths, essentially, these new policies would only be a gross infringement upon student rights.

Well, actually you are wrong KUCheifsFavreFan. Had we known about Jason's true infractions, we would have pulled him after the first semester. It is important to tell those who love the student most, the parents. Then together, with correct information, the best choices can be made. Hind sight IS 20/20 and it's terrific that KU is finally doing something pro-active against alcohol. Maybe this will save lives. If nothing else, these changes will help the students make the correct choice in life, staying away from alcohol. I've expressed my regrets and will go to my grave in sorrow over them.

Jay, Jason's dad
