Regardless of current fears and sentiments towards Mexico, Cinco de Mayo celebrations continued.

While some use the celebration of Cinco de Mayo as an excuse to eat Mexican food and drink margaritas, other acknowledge the holiday's significance.

Cinco de Mayo originated from a military victory where the Mexican Army defeated a superior French army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
