One suspect in Friday's early-morning robbery near the Robinson Center tennis courts has been identified and arrested, according to court records.
Trevin Kennedy, a 21-year-old Perry man, was booked into Douglas County Jail at 12:45 p.m. Friday on charges of aggravated robbery, battery and aggravated intimidation of a witness. Kennedy was released on a $25,000 bond Saturday and ordered to stay away from campus.
KUPD Captain Schuyler Bailey said the 19-year-old non-student victim was walking to his vehicle parked in the southwest corner of the parking lot south of the tennis courts when he was approached by two unknown white males.
While one of the suspects held him down, the other punched him in the face. The victim said he had his wallet taken by the suspects, who told him not to call police and left the area in a white Cadillac. The victim had no cash in his wallet, but did have a credit card and driver’s license stolen.
KUPD put out a crime alert Friday asking for the public's help in identifying the remaining suspect who is still wanted for robbery, battery and intimidation of a witness.
The other suspect was described by police as a white male with dreadlocks wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
Police urged anyone with information about the crime to call the KU Public Safety Office at 785-864-5900 or 785-864-8888.
