Lawrence police have identified a person of interest in a hit-and-run collision that killed 20-year-old former student Rachel Leek on Friday.
The department issued a media release Monday morning identifying the suspect as a Lawrence man and said that the investigation was still on-going. Police ask that anyone with information about the collision call the Tips Hotline at 834-TIPS.
Leek was struck by a car as she rode her bicycle along the 1000 block of Tennessee Street at about 2:30 a.m. Friday. The driver who allegedly hit Leek left her lying on the roadside. After, Leek was found, she was flown to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. She died from the injuries she sustained Friday afternoon.
