Rape reported on campus

On Thursday, June 24, a rape was reported to the KU police department at 2:15 a.m. According to the KU police report, the victim was sexually battered and raped near the parking lot at 1400 Alumni Place, close to the Natural History Museum.

Also according to the report, the suspect was an acquaintance of the victim. KU police Assistant Chief Chris Keary said both the victim, 21, and the suspect, 22, are KU students. The suspect has been contacted and interviewed by the police, but Keary said the suspect was not arrested.

"The circumstances of this particular incident made that appropriate," Keary said. "The victim did not want to prosecute."
