Kansas receives verbal commitment from running back

Blue Springs, Mo., prospect verbally commits for 2011

Darrian Miller, a running back from Blue Springs, Mo., verbally committed to Kansas for the 2011 season, according to Rivals.com.

Miller, who attended Kansas’ basketball game against Kansas State Wednesday with former high school teammate and 2010 Kansas commit Keeston Terry, told Rivals that he wanted to make an official commitment to coach Turner Gill and his staff.

“I sent coach Reggie Mitchell a text and told him I'm committing,” Miller told Rivals. “He told Chuck Long and they both gave me a thumbs up."

As a junior, Miller rushed for 2,798 yards and 37 touchdowns, according to Rivals. He reportedly also has offers from Kansas State, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Miller told Rivals that he liked his one-on-one meeting with Gill. He also told Rivals that he liked the close proximity of Lawrence to Blue Springs.

It's only about 45 minutes away,” Miller said. “My family and grandma can watch me play. I like everything KU has to offer. Everything was telling me this is where I need to be. Coach Mitchell was telling me they need a big-time running back and the time was right."
