Assistant coach Joe Dooley has received an offer to become head coach of East Carolina, according to FOXNews.com.
Dooley was an assistant coach of East Carolina from 1991-95 and earned the head coaching position from 1995-99. In his first year as a head coach, the Pirates had a 17-11 record, the best ever for a first-year coach.
Before becoming part of the Kansas coaching staff in 2003, he spent three years in New Mexico.
The previous head coach of East Carolina, Mack McCarthy, has a 34-55 record in his three years, but has been put on an administrative role.
