I have always been a team player throughout my life, who’s not afraid to speak my mind about an issue or idea. Freshmen can be sure that I won’t be afraid to bring up the concerns of my classmates. I’ll work hard to get the job done, and done well.

As a senator, I will do my best to make sure the freshman class is given the same consideration as the other classes when decisions are presented to the Student Senate. If elected, I will make our interests a priority and represent the Class of 2014 in an honorable way.

With my many years of valuable experience working with students in other organizations, I have the skills required to organize and get things done in a timely and efficient manner. I believe that every student’s voice should be heard and I have the skills required to bring the voice and vision of the student to the table each and every day.

If I am elected Student Senator for the freshman class, I will contribute my leadership and my personality to help keep the success of Student Senate going. Making sure individual groups and clubs have the chance to be heard and have a voice is very important to me.

As a new student, I’m excited for the many opportunities students have to get involved. I’m eager to apply that excitement to Senate by performing the duties of a senator to the best of my ability: advocating for the Class of 2014 by addressing any and every concern a freshman might have. I have lived right next to the University for the past 13 years. Between my detailed knowledge of everything at the University and my experience as Free State High School Student Body President, Model United Nations Delegate and KU Summerfield Scholar, I challenge anyone to say they are more qualified than I am for this position.

My decision-making abilities date back to 5th grade, during my days as Secretary of the Somerset Elementary “Leadership Team.” The Leadership Team stood for student rights, fighting bureaucratic teachers, lunch ladies and principals on issues such as recess extension, hot lunch menu expansion and chewing gum toleration. These experiences will be invaluable in helping me contribute to Student Senate.
