Last night two of the spam/virus servers for the University experienced a software failure and began incorrectly labeling all mail as "Virus." Between midnight and 8 a.m. some students may have received messages in their KU email that were tagged as viruses.
Following the normal virus protection procedure, the system erased all the existing information in the email. Staff from the IT Department said that they were not able to restore the stripped email content. The problem has since been resolved, but the department is telling users who received the "Virus" labeled message to email the original sender and ask them to resend the message.
Users who have questions or need assistance can contact the KU IT Customer Service Center at 864-8080 or itcsc@ku.edu.
