The University of Kansas will test its emergency alert systems on the Lawrence campus on Tuesday, March 5.

The University of Kansas’ Lawrence campus will conduct a test of all emergency systems on Tuesday, March 5 at 10 a.m., according to a press release.

The test will include the campus’ tornado sirens, which will sound during a statewide test of sirens.

The University will also test text message and email alerts as well as its emergency public address system installed in 84 buildings across campus.

According to the release, the tests are part of the 2019 Severe Weather Awareness week March 4–8 through the National Weather Service in Topeka. The week includes drills and safety topics regarding tornadoes, lightning, hail and wind, and flooding.
