The students constructed the bridge as part of the American Society of Engineers Mid-Continent Regional Conference Steel Bridge competition. Breth finished first in the event and Kirk took second. Kirk is leading the decathlon after day one of the event. He finished with first place in the long jump, second in the 400-meter dash and set a personal-best for both high jump and shot-put.

Dice lost his leg as a result of being shot by a police officer two weeks ago. According to O'Neal, Dice has been adjusting well to walking and running although his leg was recently amputated.
