Carnez Williams, a senior from Wichita, uses an old two-door elevator to access the third floor of Lippincott Hall. However, Williams had to first enter a building behind Lippincott where the elevator shaft is located and then cross a sky bridge into Lippincott.

Carnez Williams, a senior from Wichita, attended his classes throughout the day in a wheelchair in order simulate the environment students with disability at KU experience. One of the major obstacles he faced were doors. Although most doors on the KU campus outside of major buildings have mechanical door openers, some classroom doors, such as the ones that lead into the lecture hall in Budig Hall are too heavy to open without help.

Williams cannot reach all of the safety straps that secures his wheelchair to the bus on his own. The operator has to park the bus and aid Williams in unfastening and off-loading him onto the sidewalk.

At the end of the day, Williams, who is fit and in good physical shape, found it almost impossible when tackling the icy wintry hills that surround campus.

Carnez Williams, a senior from Wichita, rides the KU On Wheels service from Daisy Hill to Jayhawk Boulevard while using a wheelchair. The campus 'Red Route' is heavily used by students during peak hours, making it somewhat frustrating for both normal commuters and those who are in wheelchairs due to the long wait while the bus driver fastens four sets of safety straps to secure the wheelchair.
