Cab Calloway is remembered as a legendary figure in early jazz and blues music , particularly the upbeat "big band" style of swing music that became popular in the 1930s. While the genre is one of the oldest in American music, there are still faithful practitioners keeping the flashy sights and sounds alive. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a contemporary swing band, released a tribute album to Calloway titled "How Big Can You Get?" in 2009, and will be at the Lied Center later this week. KJHK’s Alex Tretbar sat down with Glen "The Kid" Marhevka, trumpet player for the band.
