The best cinema was rewarded with the Oscar statues on Sunday night.

On Sunday, The Oscars once again took place.
I'm not going to disagree with anyone or anything that won because I actually haven't seen a lot of the movies because work has prevented me from seeing a ton of new movies.
"No Country For Old Men," is supposed to be terrific, but I also heard it is very violent. The only film that I saw that was nominated for best picture was "Juno." I thought "Juno" was a good film, but I don't know about best picture.
"There Will Be Blood," is also a film that was supposed to be great. I wasn't really surprised Daniel Day Lewis won for Best Actor although I would have liked to have seen George Clooney or Johnny Depp win.
I feel like The Academy did jip some films and actors. My main example is Denzel Washington and "American Gangster." He was excellent in the film and although I think the film didn't deserve best picture, I do believe it deserved to be nominated for it. Washington was excellent in the film and really did a great job of pulling off Frank Lucas. I thought he and Russell Crowe were great on screen together, even though I am not a Crowe fan at all.
At the end of the day, The Oscars aren't mandatory for me to watch. I love films-but I think I'd rather just look at the winners list after the show than sit through it all. I had an idea of who would win before hand anyways. I actually think the funniest thing from Sunday night was Jimmy Kimmel's post Oscar show. Check out his Matt Damon song on You Tube. It's really funny.

Oh man, I thought Juno was super. I also really liked La Vie En Rose.. It seemed like a pretty good year for Oscar flicks, better than many in the past that I recall. But I still haven't seen No Country yet.. curses!
I still can't believe Juno was even mentioned once for anything. How old is the whole quirky-smart-mouthed quit-witted schtick? It's like watching bad stand up. That and they've already made Napoleon Dynamite, and it already ripped off Wes Anderson in the first place. I give Juno and Co. a huge two thumbs down.
*quick*
Comparing Juno to Napoleon Dynamite? That's like comparing a hot spring to a puddle on the KU bus route.
Hahaha. I thought you said "hot puddle". What's in that?
Wait......the only Best Picture nominee you actually saw was "Juno"--yet you wanted George Clooney to win the Best Actor Oscar for a role you never saw, "Michael Clayton" (another Best Picture nominee).
Good thing you weren't a voting Academy member, I guess.
I only did see "Juno," that is true. A friend of mine and fellow staff member had seen the others and had given some rave reviews of 'Michael Clayton.' Based on what I heard of the film and because I like Clooney, yes, I was pulling for him. And now that I've seen 'Michael Clayton' I definitely believe he was worthy. I'm going to see 'There Will Be Blood' this week and then I can make a decision.
