Junior center Udoka Azubuike
Kansas men’s basketball defeated Washburn 79-52 this past Thursday in its final exhibition game prior to the regular season, and junior center Udoka Azubuike stood out for the Jayhawks.
Azubuike contributed 17 points and six rebounds on the night, as well as shooting 5-for-6 from the free throw line, a spot that he has struggled mightily from, particularly last season. Azubuike also finished the night shooting 6-for-6 in total, suggesting that he will be a significant presence inside this season for Kansas.
Senior setter Gabby Simpson
After dropping its previous three matches, Kansas volleyball got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday night. Leading the way was senior setter Gabby Simpson, who has been holding down the setter position with the absence of freshman Camryn Ennis. Simpson finished with a team-high 39 assists, along with nine digs and five kills, and hit for a .400 clip in the match.
