Following another successful outdoor season, junior middle distance runner Bryce Hoppel was named to the USATF roster for the 2019 Pan American Games. Hoppel also announced he will return to Kansas for his senior season, according to Kansas Athletics press release.
Hoppel is one of 96 athletes selected for the U.S. roster and this will be his first time competing on the international stage.
Hoppel had an impressive junior season at Kansas, running in 19 individual races, finishing the season with an individual record of 19-0. Among the 19 races, two were for national championships in both the indoor and outdoor 800-meter run.
Hoppel concluded his junior season with a personal record of 1:44:41 in early June at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Hoppel’s run was also the top collegiate run this past season and the No. 5 800-meter run in NCAA history.
The 2019 Pan American games will take place in Lima, Peru on Aug. 6-10.
