Allison Richardson is a senior from Lenexa, majoring in art history and French. This is her second semester working for The Kansan as a staff photographer. Allison plays soccer on a regular basis and likes listening to music.

Paisley, a 4-month-old golden retriever, lies amongst a group of elementary school children at Libertyview Elementary. Because Paisley is a puppy in training for KSDS, a non-profit organization that raises dogs to assist humans, she can go to work with her puppy raiser, Jan Broxterman.

Broxterman sits with Paisley until the puppy calms down. Paisley is in the first phase of her training. The KSDS program has three stages of training, the first of which is when the dog is trained by a volunteer.

Paisley, Jan Broxerman’s four-month-old golden retriever puppy, sits patiently in the library of Libertyview Elementary school. Broxterman substitute teaches at the elementary school and takes Paisley with her to help the dog become accustomed to small children and large crowds.
